2018 will go down as a year of transition and challenge for me as I packed up and left a beautiful place I called home for 10 years to begin a new career journey in Atlanta, Georgia. Many wonderful things have occurred thus far in 2018: my life-changing trip to Honduras with Humanity and Hope, starting a new job in a new city, watching close friends get married and traveling to new cities near and far.

To me, challenge has always meant opportunity. And right now, I need your help as I take on a new life challenge – 26.2 miles worth of challenge. I'll be running my first marathon in Savannah, Georgia on November 3, 2018 in honor of the people we serve in Honduras.

Let me explain where we have opportunity to overcome challenge together.

La Coroza is a village in Honduras that touched my heart in ways hard to describe. It is filled with loving, hard-working people who come together every day to provide for their families and ensure their children a better life than they had. From a progression standpoint, La Coroza showed me that the work Humanity and Hope does changes lives by giving people a sense of purpose in a life where purpose might be hard to find.

The men of this village spend hours each day in the Grand Farm on crops that feed the locals and provide income to their families. The land that has provided jobs and food to our villages is currently on a rental contract. In order to keep the land, we need to outright buy the land. Here is where we are challenged. The land is not cheap and without it our village would be out of many jobs.

We have an opportunity to help save The Grand Farm in La Coroza from being sold away.

See the village and Grand Farm here.

As I am training to run 26.2 miles in only one morning, these men on average walk over 3 miles each roundtrip to the Grand Farm. On average, the villagers will collectively walk 24-28 miles a day just to get to/from the farm. The land totals 30 acres.

I'm hoping to raise $1 per step that I take during my marathon representing the steps it takes our villagers to get to their Grand Farm each day. On average, it takes a person 50,000 – 55,000 steps to run a marathon. Together, we can help keep the morale alive in La Coroza so that they can continue to see hope for tomorrow in every aspect of their lives. Please share with your friends and your family – anything will help. Our dollars go so far in Honduras.
